Kill Hill: Obama’s Roaring Rampage to the White House

Bruce Lee in Game of DeathAs you’ve noticed, The Obama Skinny has a new home and a new name. This will serve as Kill Hill’s mission statement…

First off, nobody needs to call secret security. If it’s not obvious already, this blog’s intent is to: A.) Help Barack Obama win the 2008 presidential election and land in the White House; and B.) Help end Hillary Clinton’s presidential aspirations once and for all.

It’s all a play on a recent popular Quentin Tarintino martial arts film, ironically titled Kill Bill. In the movie, kills were made with swords; On this site, kills will be made with words. In no way, shape or form am I advocating or suggesting any violence. The phrase “Kill Hill” refers to ending Hillary’s campaign towards the presidency. That is made elictly clear in the tagline.

Back to the film Kill Bill reference –I love the film. Everything about it. The thing is, lots of people probably think it is all blood and guts. Not so. Kill Bill is beautiful, masterful storytelling. Like Pulp Fiction, it has plenty of redeeming qualities for those who really look for them. The biggest one? Yep, change. Those who really change, who really take a path down the road less traveled — at least in their own worlds, anyway — survive. Those who don’t change, they perish. When I think of The Bride (Uma Thurmon’s character), I see someone who saw that it was never to late to change. Someone who against all odds not only became a survivor, but a hero.

Barack Obama sees that it isn’t too late for this nation to change, and not the change Hillary talks about either. She acts as if we can just time warp back to 1996, or as if it would be in our best interests as a country to do so. Furthermore, that was Bill’s presidency — who’s to say she could even pull that off? Especially with the mess our country is currently in. Obama will actually bring change to Washington’s broken system and the way the rest of the world interacts with us.

Barack Obama is also an unlikely hero. He is the epitome of the American Dream, and has already become an American Idol we’ll never forget. No, not Carrie Underwood — a real one. He’s already an icon, and it seems like he was always destined to be one. I often say that he reminds me of leaders like John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. And he does, very much so.

While he’s obviously eloquent, genuine, intelligent, powerful and trustworthy, he’s also cool. That’s another reason why I chose Kill Hill for the name. The Obama Skinny just wasn’t hip enough. Besides, the suit that inspired the suit The Bride wore in Kill Bill was originally worn by Bruce Lee in Game of Death. Who’s cooler than Bruce Lee? And it’s extremely easy to draw parallels between Lee and Obama.

The similarities:

 • Destined for greatness
 • Cultural icons at a young age
 • Uncanny work ethics
 • Students, philosophers and masters, wise beyond their years
 • Extremely well-educated, well-rounded
 • Fresh new perspectives for America, and, really, the world
 • Developed cult followings that accumulated quickly
 • Broke through cultural barriers in America
 • No real professional blemishes in either career
 • Born U.S. Citizens who left and made almost prodigal returns
 • Ethnically mixed
 • Great communicators, extremely quotable
 • Undeniably charismatic and cool

I bet most of you didn’t see nearly that many connections, but I could keep going. Check out these Obamaesque quotes by Lee:

 • “True observation begins when one is devoid of set patterns.”
 • “The other weakness is, when clans are formed, the people of a clan will hold their kind of martial art as the only truth and do not dare to reform or improve it. Thus they are confined in their own tiny little world. Their students become machines which imitate martial art forms.”

I see a call for change in those quotes. I see a preference for unison over division. Both of those quotes cho Obama’s message today. Our political system will only change when people realize it is broken, decide to become part of the solution and act to move things in a new direction. I don’t think we give Lee the philosopher enough credit. His quotes still hold true in general, everyday life — not just in martial arts.

In a nutshell, Obama donning Lee’s suit is a tribute to both men, and symbolic of what both men represent.

Back to less interesting reasons for the move, on the technical side. WordPress is a far superior publishing platform than Blogger. No offense to people who like Blogger and use it well, but WordPress just gives bloggers more control, more options. This blog is going to be a far superior product than the previous one. Better looking, better functioning, edgier, updated more often, etc

Again, I am dedicated to convincing as many people as possible, first and foremost, that Barack Obama is the right president for the United States, right now — not in four years, eight years or 12 years. I am also dedicated to convincing as many people as possible that Hillary Clinton is the wrong candidate for the job, especially right now. Our country needs change, hope, a new brand of politics — not another Bush or Clinton, or even another Republican.

In addition to informing and persuading, there will be quite a bit of entertaining as well. I learned in both the film industry and the sportswriting trade that media excels only when it is well rounded. I will apply that philosophy to this blog to the absolute best of my ability. There’s a host of great political blogs out there, but there are also quite a few that are dry and boring. I’ll make sure to spice it up, while keeping everything readable for everyone from political gurus to everyday Janes and Joes.

Thanks for reading, and I’m pumped. All of us Obamaites have an election to win — yes we can! And if you’re not on board, bookmark this site and keep coming back. I respect your opinion, but I also believe that if you give Sen. Obama a fair shot as a candidate that he’ll sweep you off your feet.
